About the Call for Grant
The Royal Academy of Engineering (RAEng) Distinguished International Associates (DIA) programme aims to develop a powerful global network of excellent, diverse engineers and researchers across different countries and disciplines. The program enables international innovators to establish, strengthen, and deepen research, innovation, and policy links with the United Kingdom while driving progress toward a sustainable society and an inclusive economy.
Eligibility
Applications are open to international engineers, researchers, and tech innovators who:
- Are based in any country outside the UK (including Kazakhstan and Central Asia).
- Possess a completed PhD/Doctorate or equivalent professional engineering experience.
- Have established or planned research/innovation links with UK-based partners or institutions.
The applicant must demonstrate strong leadership potential and a commitment to facilitating long-term international knowledge exchange and capacity building.

Funding Mechanics & Application Process
💰 Funding & Benefits:
Selected awardees receive a grant of up to £10,000 for a duration of up to 12 months. The grant is designed to cover international collaboration activities, including research visits, joint workshops, international communication, and public engagement initiatives.
🌍 Network Integration:
Beyond financial support, awardees gain life-long access to the Academy’s global Awardee Excellence Community, annual international networking events, and direct peer support from top UK and global tech experts.
📄 Application & Selection:
Proposals must be submitted online through the Academy's dedicated Grants Management System. Applications are evaluated based on the scientific quality of the project, alignment with UK strategic priorities, and the long-term impact on the applicant's home country engineering talent base.

Calls for proposals open in annual thematic cycles. Shortlisted applicants undergo rigorous peer review by the Academy's Fellowship committee before final funding confirmations.
