About the Call for Grant
The Epic MegaGrants program is a global initiative by Epic Games to support creative, innovative, and technically ambitious projects built using Unreal Engine (or open-source projects enhancing the 3D graphics ecosystem). It is designed to provide financial "fuel" to developers, researchers, educators, and creative studios without requiring any ownership stake or intellectual property rights. Recipients retain full ownership of their work.
Eligibility
- Geographic Scope: Global. Open to individuals, indie teams, and companies worldwide, provided there are no legal restrictions (sanctions) against the applicant's country.
- Project Scope: Must be built in or migrating to Unreal Engine. Alternatively, it can be an open-source project that significantly contributes to the 3D content creation community.
- Diversity of Use: Funding is not limited to video games. It spans film & television, architecture, automotive, broadcast, live events, and educational training tools.
- Entity Type: Individuals, small teams, and large organizations are all eligible.
Format:
Funding & Application Cycle 2026

- Grant Amounts: Typically range from $5,000 to $75,000 per project.
- Exceptional Cases: In highly ambitious or technically groundbreaking cases, grants can reach up to $150,000.

📅 Submission Cycles (2026 Schedule):
The program operates in two annual cycles. Applicants must strictly adhere to these windows:
- Cycle 1: Applications are processed in the first half of the year (Submission window closed in March 2026).
- Cycle 2:

- Review Period: September 5 – December 4, 2026.
- Notifications: December 7 – 11, 2026.
🔄 Evaluation Criteria:
- Technical Innovation: Does the project push the limits of Unreal Engine?
- Creative Merit: Is the project original, challenging, and artistically compelling?
- Feasibility: Does the team have the skills and resources to complete the proposed roadmap?
- Impact: How does the project benefit the broader community (e.g., open-source code, reusable plugins, or artistic inspiration)?
