About the Call for Grant

The Business Partnership Facility (BPF) brings together multidisciplinary innovators, private sector leaders, and cross-sector partners to co-develop and scale innovative business solutions that address global development challenges.

Through strategic partnerships between European enterprises and local actors in developing countries, the initiative supports the design, testing, and deployment of impactful technologies, products, and services that contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The programme fosters collaboration between businesses, research institutions, and development stakeholders to strengthen sustainable economic growth, promote inclusive innovation, and accelerate the real-world application of market-driven solutions in areas such as climate resilience, digital transformation, healthcare, education, and resource efficiency. Eligibility

Applications must be submitted by a partnership consisting of at least two partners:
- One initiating partner from the private sector (must be a registered company in Luxembourg, an EU member state, or a member of the European Free Trade Association - EFTA).
- One local partner based in an eligible developing country.

The initiating partner must have been registered for at least 3 years, have a minimum of 3 employees, and demonstrate financial stability (minimum turnover of €100,000 for each of the last three financial years).

Format:

BPF is seeking motivated professionals who are passionate about cross-sector collaboration and the development of innovative, impact-driven solutions to global challenges.

The role involves working within multidisciplinary teams, including private companies, research institutions, and development partners, to support the design, implementation, and scaling of sustainable business initiatives aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Key responsibilities include facilitating partnerships between European enterprises and local stakeholders in developing countries, contributing to project development and evaluation, and supporting the deployment of innovative solutions in areas such as climate resilience, digital transformation, healthcare, education, and sustainable resource management.

The ideal candidate has strong analytical and communication skills, experience in international or cross-sector collaboration, and a commitment to advancing inclusive and sustainable economic development through market-driven approaches. Application Timeline & Funding Details

💰 Co-financing Amount:
Up to 50% of the total project budget, with a maximum grant of €200,000.

📄 Phase 1 – Concept Note Submission (First Stage):
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. The selection committee meets twice a year to evaluate received concept notes (typically in Spring and Autumn).

📄 Phase 2 – Full Proposal (Second Stage - selected applicants only):
Shortlisted applicants will be invited to submit a detailed Full Proposal, including a comprehensive business plan and partnership agreement, within a specific deadline after notification.

📊 Project Implementation:
Selected projects receive co-financing for a maximum implementation period of up to 3 years.

⚠️ Important Note: The project must demonstrate a clear business model with long-term financial viability and commercial sustainability beyond the grant funding period. Purely philanthropic or non-commercial projects are excluded.
