A Hackathon focused on the development of Digital Public Goods was held at the Kazakh-British Technical University (KBTU) in Almaty, with the participation of local schoolgirls. The event saw the involvement of fifty girls from the region. Before the Hackathon, they had completed an online course as part of the DPG Labaimed initiative, aimed at empowering girls in the STEAM fields (science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics), and was created by the UN Children's Fund (UNICEF). The course was designed by GameLab KBTU using a gamified approach, emphasizing collaborative learning and teamwork.

Digital Public Goods (DPG) are digital products and services that offer significant public value, including open educational resources, open-source software, artificial intelligence systems, and open standards.

Having gained essential skills in creating digital products and applying artificial intelligence for Digital Public Goods, the participants worked in teams to develop their own DPG projects, which were presented at the Hackathon in Almaty.
