KBTU Hosts OECD Experts for an Open Lecture and Training on Business Integrity and Ethical Leadership

On October 1, 2026, Kazakh-British Technical University (KBTU) hosted experts from the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) as part of the project “Fair Market Conditions for Competitiveness in Kazakhstan,” funded by Siemens. The visit included an open lecture for students and a training workshop for faculty members, focusing on business integrity, ethical leadership, anti-corruption practices, and transparency.
The events featured three OECD experts: William Tompson, Head of the OECD Eurasia Division; Céleste Laporte Talamon, Policy Analyst for Central Asia; and Egor Polishchuk, Junior Policy Analyst for Central Asia.
During the open lecture “Private Sector Integrity & Ethical Leadership,” students explored international approaches to business ethics, corporate transparency, and responsible leadership. The training workshop for faculty members focused on integrating anti-corruption and integrity principles into university curricula. The open lecture brought together over 100 students who actively participated in discussions on business integrity, ethical leadership, and responsible business practices. Participants discussed OECD international standards, due diligence practices, and practical cases involving conflicts of interest, public procurement, and business ethics.
These initiatives support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions), which promotes justice, transparency, accountability, and effective institutions. By encouraging ethical decision-making and responsible business practices, KBTU contributes to developing future professionals committed to fairness and integrity. The events also highlight the university’s commitment to international academic cooperation and sustainable development in Kazakhstan.
