KBTU Delegation Visits Nazarbayev University's "Smart Systems and Artificial Intelligence" Institute

From 5 to 6 June 2023, a delegation from KBTU, including Rector M.T. Gabdullin, Executive Director for Continuing Education A.M. Ibraev, and the Head of the Project Groups, Professor A.Zh., will be visiting the "Smart Systems and Artificial Intelligence" Institute of Nazarbayev University. Ms Akzhalova visited the "Smart Systems and Artificial Intelligence" Institute of Nazarbayev University. The delegation met with the Institute Director, Professor Hussein Atakan Varol, and the Project Lead for the "Circular Economy and Artificial Intelligence" project, Professor Ferhat Karacha.

The meeting saw the discussion of joint activities, including scientific internships, collaborative projects, the creation of project groups, and the organisation of conferences. The Institute demonstrated its capabilities and laboratories, including the robotics laboratory led by Associate Professor Azamat Yeshmukhametov. The KBTU and Institute leadership have agreed to continue their collaboration and to increase the number of joint projects for grant funding.

Since 2023, KBTU and the Institute have been engaged in research activities related to the "Circular Economy and Artificial Intelligence" project, with plans to continue through 2025. Professor A. Zh. is the co-head of the project at KBTU. The research team is led by Akzhalova and includes professors Pak and Akhmetov from the School of IT and Engineering, as well as second-year bachelor student Shakarim Aubakirov. A joint AI workshop is scheduled to take place at the end of the year at Nazarbayev University.
