KBTU and Tallinn University of Technology (TALTECH, Tallinn, Estonia) are continuing to strengthen their cooperation, which began in 2021 with joint seminars on artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things, as well as doctoral internships organised by the KBTU AI and IT Center and the UN Sustainable Development Goals Center.
It is worth noting that on 31 March, KBTU Rector (Chairman of the Board) Maratbek Tulebergenovich and TalTech Rector Hendrik Voll signed an agreement that envisions the exchange of students, faculty, the organisation of seminars, and the implementation of Smart City projects.
As part of the faculty exchange programme, TalTech professors Sadok Ben Yahia and Ants Torim, who specialise in AI and the Internet of Things, visited KBTU from 17 to 22 April 2023 and met with the KBTU Rector. The meeting saw the discussion of potential IT-related projects.
Building on this collaboration, the School of Information Technologies and Engineering and the UN SDG Center KBTU Project Groups held an international workshop, "Smart City and its Applications," on April 18, 2023. The event featured keynote presentations by professors from Tallinn University of Technology (Estonia). Professor Sadok Ben Yahia and Professor Ants Torim.
At the workshop, master's and doctoral students from the School of IT and Engineering presented their software development projects and the application of information and communication technologies in the design of smart cities. Topics included e-health, fintech, applications for people with disabilities, environmental pollution, and the impact of smart cities on society.
Certificates were presented to all participants, and the most outstanding projects were acknowledged, including those by first-year Master's student Zakir Shakirov and second-year Master's student Albina Aliturlieva. I would like to extend my congratulations to you all.
