
Kazakh-British Technical University Successfully organized the International Workshop on Technology and Innovation for Achieving SDGs

Almaty, Kazakhstan – The Kazakh-British Technical University (KBTU), through its Department for SDG Projects of the Academy of Corporate Education, proudly announces the successful completion of the International Workshop on Technology and Innovation for Achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), held on May 20–21, 2025 at KBTU’s main campus in Almaty.
The workshop brought together academics, students, researchers, and industry professionals from Kazakhstan and partner universities worldwide to discuss innovative solutions and interdisciplinary approaches addressing global sustainability challenges. Over two days, participants presented research and projects focusing on topics such as AI for sustainability, Smart Cities, Green Technologies, Circular Economy, ESG, and social innovation.
A highlight of the workshop was the poster session on May 21, where students and young researchers showcased their work aligned with one or more of the 17 UN SDGs, demonstrating their creativity and commitment to contributing to global sustainable development. Notably, the workshop featured active participation from multiple Kazakhstani universities, including Kazakhstan-British Technical University (KBTU), Satbayev University, and Al-Farabi Kazakh National University (KazNU), reflecting the growing interest and collaboration across institutions in Kazakhstan.
All accepted abstracts from the poster session underwent international peer review and are published in the Book Series “Technologies and Innovations for Sustainable Development Goals Projects” (Volume 1) with an ISBN, marking an important milestone for academic dissemination and global knowledge-sharing.
KBTU expresses its sincere appreciation to Aida Karazhanova, Economic Affairs Officer, UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), for her valuable support of the workshop. Her involvement greatly contributed to the event’s success, fostering dialogue and knowledge exchange among participants.
This workshop marks another milestone for Kazakhstan-British Technical University (KBTU), which continues to advance academic and project-based engagement with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The event also provided an opportunity for networking, collaboration, and knowledge exchange between academia and industry.
The International Workshop on Technology and Innovation for Achieving SDGs was conducted as part of the International Scientific and Technical Conference “Colloids and Nanotechnologies in Industry – CollNanoIndustry 2025”.
