Eco Showcase Competition: Hackathon Results

24.04.2026
The SDG Projects Department of the Academy of Corporate Education at the Kazakh-British Technical University organized the Eco Showcase competition in a hackathon format, aimed at fostering student initiatives in the fields of ecology, sustainable development, and innovative technologies.
Eco Showcase is an interactive event designed to develop practical skills in sustainable entrepreneurship and eco-innovation. The initiative provides young people with a platform to explore opportunities in green business, strengthen entrepreneurial competencies, and engage with like-minded peers and experts.
The event is held at KBTU in alignment with the principles of the United Nations Global Compact — the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative, bringing together organizations committed to principles in human rights, labor standards, environmental protection, and anti-corruption. It is also implemented within the framework of the United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI), a global network of higher education institutions dedicated to promoting UN values through education, research, and community engagement. In addition, the project contributes to the achievement of UN Sustainable Development Goal 12 — Responsible Consumption and Production, and supports the national environmental initiative “Taza Kazakhstan”, which promotes environmental awareness and responsibility among youth.
The competition brought together students from leading universities in Kazakhstan, including the Kazakh-British Technical University, SDU University, Satbayev University, and Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. International students studying in Kazakhstan also participated, highlighting the inclusive and global nature of the event.
Participants worked on pressing environmental and social challenges, demonstrating creativity, analytical thinking, and strong teamwork skills.
