60 CHILDREN FROM ATYRAU REGION SPENT THEIR VACATIONS IN ALMATY SUMMER CAMP OF KBTU

As part of the development program for the Zhylyoi district of the Atyrau region, the Kazakh-British Technical University (KBTU) supported the initiative of Kazakhstan’s largest oil producer, Tengizchevroil LLP (TCO), by providing sponsorship for the organization of a summer camp for 60 children from large families in the city of Kulsary.

The list of children was determined by the Department of Education of the Zhylyoi district according to criteria such as good academic performance, victories in competitions, positive references from teachers, and good discipline. The main focus of the initiative was on children aged 12 to 16 years, particularly those from vulnerable groups, including low-income families, large families, orphans, and children from single-parent households.

Comfortable transportation was arranged for the children from Kulsary to the KBTU mountain camp in Almaty. The camp area is surrounded by birch and pine groves, with a scenic view of the Ile-Alatau National Park at an altitude of 2200 meters. The camp program included visits to the swimming pool, quad biking, rope park activities, and sports competitions. In the evenings, the children were introduced to the starry sky at the planetarium, and workshops based on their interests were held by camp leaders. A football field was available for young footballers, and experienced pilots from the Aerostat aeronautics club provided hot air balloon rides. A riding arena and other developmental activities and competitions were also organized. To ensure the children had enough energy for the busy schedule, five meals a day were provided.

The KBTU team, including Rector Maratbek Tulebergenovich Gabdullin, Vice-Rector for Social and Educational Affairs Ekaterina Sergeevna Smolyakova, and Managing Director for Additional Education Arman Muratovich Ibraev, visited the camp, met with the children, and presented them with commemorative gifts as a reminder of their time at the camp and as motivation for enrolling at the best technical university in Kazakhstan.

Thanks to the joint efforts and long-standing social support provided by Tengizchevroil LLP (TCO), KBTU, and the Education Department of the Atyrau region, the summer holiday in the mountains was organized for the children of the Zhylyoi district. KBTU hopes that this trip will remain a memorable and joyful adventure for the children, providing them with the strength needed for a successful new school year. We eagerly look forward to making the excellent experience of KBTU’s summer camp, as part of TCO's social support program for children in the Atyrau region, an annual tradition.
