About the Call for Grant

The Private Financing Advisory Network (PFAN) is a global network of climate and clean energy financing experts. Unlike traditional grant-making institutions, PFAN provides free business coaching, investment readiness support, and targeted matchmaking with international investors. The initiative aims to bridge the "valley of death" for clean energy and climate adaptation projects by professionalizing business models and connecting entrepreneurs with commercial capital, development banks, and impact investors.

Eligibility

- Geographic Focus: PFAN is fully active in Kazakhstan and Central Asian states.
- Project Type: Projects must focus on climate change mitigation (clean energy, energy efficiency, biogas, etc.) or climate change adaptation (water management, sustainable agriculture, resilient infrastructure).
- Business Maturity: Projects must demonstrate commercial viability. This is designed for businesses, SMEs, and public-private partnerships that have a clear path to generating revenue or achieving systemic social impact.
- Financial Goal: Projects should ideally be seeking investment in the range of USD 1 million to USD 50 million (though smaller amounts are considered for energy access projects).

Support Mechanics & Investment Facilitation

💰 Financial & Strategic Support:
- Non-Financial Assistance: The primary "grant" is professional, no-cost coaching. You get assigned an expert advisor who helps you refine your business model, financial projections, and pitch deck.
- Investment Matching: Once "investment-ready," PFAN facilitates introductions to their network of private equity firms, impact investors, and development finance institutions (IFCs, EBRDs, etc.).
- Direct Funding: PFAN does NOT provide direct cash grants for your project implementation. They facilitate the "mobilization" of private capital.

⏱️ Timeline & Engagement:
- Continuous Application: The portal is always open; you can submit at any time.
- Evaluation: Proposals are evaluated periodically.

📅 How to Apply:
- Portal: Submissions are handled via the "Climate-Invest" online management system.
- Requirements: You need a structured Project Proposal (up to 20 pages) and an Executive Summary.
- Process: After submission, PFAN conducts an eligibility check. If accepted, you are matched with an advisor for 1-on-1 coaching to prepare for investor pitch sessions.
