About the Call for Grant

The European Commission invites applications for the Horizon Europe topic to drive significant decarbonization in energy-intensive process industries (such as chemicals, steel, cement, and glass) by integrating renewable energy inputs and advanced energy management systems.

Eligibility

Applications must be submitted by a collaborative research consortium, typically consisting of 10 to 14 partners across different sectors and geographic regions.

The consortium must include industrial partners with actual physical locations/production lines for real-world pilot testing. Laboratory-scale projects will not be considered. Strong participation of academia is required for materials science and data validation.

Priority Areas
Low to medium temperature (100–500 °C) energy inputs
High-temperature (> 500 °C) energy inputs and advanced thermal energy storage
High-performance insulation and scalable, recyclable advanced materials

📄 Step 1 – Short Proposal (First Stage):
September 22, 2026 – February 02, 2027

📢 Step 1 Results Notification & Evaluation:
Spring – Summer 2027

📄 Step 2 – Full Proposal (Second Stage - selected applicants only):
June 20, 2027 – September 02, 2027

📊 Final Approval & Evaluation Results:
December 2027

🚀 Estimated Project Start:
From Early 2028

⚠️ Important Note: Stage 1 evaluation is strictly anonymous. Applications must not contain any organizational names, logos, acronyms, or staff names in the abstract. Pure demand-side management based merely on production schedules is excluded.
