Call for papers

The book describes original research, project ideas, and technological solutions by young scientists and students aimed at achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Each material reveals a specific problem related to sustainability — from health protection and environmental safety to the use of artificial intelligence in smart cities and digital transformation.

We invite researchers and students to submit research papers which are focusing on both applied models and prototypes, as well as analytical approaches supported by data and modeling to propose solutions for SDG challenges that are related to Smart City.

Requirements for the research papers:
Author Guidelines

As a step in the submission process, authors must check that their material meets all the following points. Submissions may be returned to authors if they do not meet these requirements.
  1. The material has not been previously published or submitted for review and publication in another journal.
  2. The material file is submitted in Microsoft Word document format: doc or docx.
  3. Full internet addresses (URLs) for references are provided where possible.
  4. The text is typed in Times New Roman, size 14, single line spacing; italics are used for emphasis rather than underlining (except for URLs).
  5. The paper should not exceed 7 pages.

Names and email addresses entered on the website of this Book will be used solely for the purposes designated by this Book and will not be used for any other purpose or shared with other individuals and organizations.

Information for authors
Publication of materials to the Book is carried out using the online submission and review system. Registration or authorization is available in the section "Submission of materials". The article is provided in electronic format only by uploading it through the functionality of the website indicated by Button Submission.

The order of submission and requirements for the design of the article 
Previously unpublished material by the author (s) corresponding to the profile of the Book in English is considered for publication.

All articles are subject to mandatory peer review (expert evaluation), literary and technical editing. Additional selection of reviewers, ensuring objective and timely review is carried out by the Editorial Board.

The Editorial Board of the Book determines the compliance of the article with the profile of the Book Series and Herald of KBTU, the requirements for registration and sends it for review to a specialist (independent expert).
All reviewers are recognized experts on the subject of peer-reviewed materials and have published on the subject of the reviewed article within the last three years. The review is conducted confidentially.
The most important criteria for evaluating an article are: the relevance of a chosen topic and a posed problem; the novelty of a presented material, the author's personal contribution to a research problem; the correctness of the terminological apparatus, citation, reliability of facts; the use of modern sources and scientific methods; the theoretical or applied significance of the research; the validity of scientific conclusions; logical, accessible presentation; compliance with the requirements for the design of articles. If the article does not meet the requirements, the editorial board has the right to reject it.
Mandatory requirements for registration:
  • The IRSTI, UDC index is placed in the upper-left corner.
  • One single line spacing below the authors ' surnames and initials in bold. Detailed names of organizations, cities, countries where the work was performed, e-mail and ORCID ID of all the authors. Specify footnotes to the place of work of the authors.
  • Below, in one interval, the full title of the article in bold.
  • Below, single spaced, is a brief abstract (150–250 words). The abstract must outline the general focus of the article, formulate its main results and be self-sufficient; it must not contain references to literary sources or to any sections and elements of the article to which it relates.
  • Key words related to the submitted article.

After a single interval, the text of the article in one column on the page.
All margins are 2 cm. 
The article must include the following required sections: Introduction, Materials and methods, Results and discussion, Conclusion, Funding information (if available)). 
  • In the "References" section the literary references in the text have to be indicated in square brackets [1].
  • Abbreviations of words, names and names are not allowed, except for accepted abbreviations of units of measurement, physical, chemical, technical and mathematical quantities.
  • Formula expressions (must be typed in Microsoft Equation or MathType), illustrations, tables should be numbered in accordance with the sequence of their mention in the text.
  • Tables should have names and numbering (in Arabic numerals). Include explanations and notes if necessary.

 Submission Preparation Checklist
As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  1. This article has not been previously published, nor has it been submitted for review and publication in another journal (or an explanation of this is given in the Comments for the editor).
  2. The file of the submitted article is presented in the format of a Microsoft Word.
  3. Full Internet addresses (URLs) for links are provided where possible.
  4. The text is typed with one and a half line spacing; a font size of 14 points is used; italics are used for highlighting, not underscores (except for Internet addresses); all illustrations, graphs and tables are located in the appropriate places in the text, and not at the end of the document.
  5. The text meets the stylistic and bibliographic requirements described in the Authors ' Guide located Author Guidelines.
  6. If you submit an article to the peer-reviewed section of the Book, the requirements of the document Ensuring blind review are met.

Authors who publish with this Book agree to the following terms:
  1. Authors retain copyright and grant the Book right of first publication with the work simultaneously licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution Licensethat allows others to share the work with an acknowledgement of the work's authorship and initial publication in this Book.
  2. Authors are able to enter into separate, additional contractual arrangements for the non-exclusive distribution of the Book's published version of the work (e.g., post it to an institutional repository or publish it in a book), with an acknowledgement of its initial publication in this Book.
  3. Authors are permitted and encouraged to post their work online (e.g., in institutional repositories or on their website) prior to and during the submission process, as it can lead to productive exchanges, as well as earlier and greater citation of published work (See The Effect of Open Access).
