Technologies and Innovations for Sustainable Development Goals Projects (within workshop May 20-21, 2025, KBTU)

The Kazakh-British Technical University (KBTU), through its Department for SDG Projects of the Academy of Corporate Education, is pleased to announce the successful completion of the International Workshop on Technology and Innovation for Achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which took place on May 20–21, 2025, at KBTU’s main campus in Almaty.

The workshop gathered academics, students, researchers, and industry professionals from Kazakhstan and partner universities globally to explore innovative solutions and interdisciplinary approaches to global sustainability challenges. Over the course of two days, participants presented research and projects on topics such as AI for sustainability, Smart Cities, Green Technologies, Circular Economy, ESG, and social innovation.

A key moment of the workshop was the poster session on May 21, where students and young researchers displayed their work related to one or more of the 17 UN SDGs, showcasing their creativity and dedication to contributing to global sustainable development. The workshop notably included active participation from several Kazakhstani universities, including Kazakhstan-British Technical University (KBTU), Satbayev University, and Al-Farabi Kazakh National University (KazNU), highlighting the increasing interest and collaboration among institutions in Kazakhstan.

All accepted abstracts from the poster session underwent international peer review and are published in the Book Series “Technologies and Innovations for Sustainable Development Goals Projects” (Volume 1) with an ISBN, marking an important milestone for academic dissemination and global knowledge-sharing.

KBTU expresses its sincere appreciation to Aida Karazhanova, Economic Affairs Officer, UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), for her valuable support of the workshop. Her involvement greatly contributed to the event’s success, fostering dialogue and knowledge exchange among participants.
