KBTU, the leading technical university of Kazakhstan with over 20 years of history, boasts an impressive 98% graduate employment rate. What opportunities are available to applicants for 2024?
In the current global market, information technology is the most in-demand field. This specialisation provides graduates with a wealth of opportunities for creativity, experimentation and research.
The School of Information Technologies and Engineering (SITIE) at KBTU is the largest school, with an enrolment of over 3,000 students across bachelor's, master's, and doctoral programmes. All students, regardless of their chosen specialisation, receive a comprehensive grounding in mathematics, programming languages and algorithms. From the fourth semester onwards, students have the option of selecting an educational track in addition to their chosen specialism. Concurrently, they pursue the fundamental disciplines pertinent to their primary programme of study.
KBTU's educational programmes in Automation and Control, Information Systems, and Computing and Software Engineering have been awarded prestigious ABET accreditation (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology) from the Computing Accreditation Commission, a global leader in accreditation for applied and natural sciences, computing, engineering, and engineering technology programmes. Students in these programmes frequently achieve success in national and international competitions, Olympiads, and hackathons.
KBTU teams have been consistently achieving success in the World Programming Championship for student teams over the past 12 years. SITIE students gain valuable experience working in leading IT companies such as Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Meta, and many others. They also contribute to the development of products for businesses and industries within Kazakhstan.
Students also have access to state-of-the-art laboratories in cybersecurity, neuroscience, data science, and Game Lab. The School of IT and Engineering at KBTU offers each graduate a 100% guarantee of employment or the opportunity to start their own startup business.
Since its establishment in 2001, the KBTU Business School has undergone substantial growth and development. As one of the country's leading business schools, it is committed to continuous improvement, ensuring that its educational programmes and teaching methods are always at the forefront of best practice. The Bachelor's and Master's programmes are taught exclusively in English by leading international and local professors and are recognised by professional organisations such as CFA, ACCA, GARP/FRM, and CIMA. Furthermore, the KBTU Business School is accredited by the American Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP).
To enhance the opportunities available to students, the university leadership is committed to forging productive partnerships with organisations in both the local and international arenas. By way of illustration, KBTU students have the opportunity to gain international experience through exchange programmes such as Erasmus+ and Abay-Verne. Furthermore, KBTU's Business School is the only business school in Kazakhstan licensed to offer the course developed by strategy guru Michael Porter from Harvard Institute of Strategy and Competitiveness.
The KBTU Business School also offers an MBA programme designed to equip students with the skills required for leadership roles. The primary objective is to cultivate competencies such as a global perspective, cross-cultural comprehension, and the capacity to devise innovative and logical solutions to intricate business issues. MBA graduates are equipped with the skills to effectively manage enterprises of all sizes and implement strategies that lead to company success.
KBTU also offers the unique opportunity to earn two international diplomas. The International School of Economics (ISE) at KBTU has been an accredited educational centre of the University of London since 2005. All students are supported by academic supervisors from the London School of Economics (LSE), a world-renowned institution in the field of social sciences. ISE students are eligible to take both KBTU's internal exams and the University of London's international exams, with the option of receiving diplomas from both institutions.
